AstroSDR Space Flight
RRC participated in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) ORS-7 PolarScout Mission. RRC built two payloads—integrating an AstroSDR, three antennas, an RF front end, and a GPS receiver into a 3U form factor. Each payload was later integrated into respective 6U spacecraft, both of which were launched December 3, on-board the SpaceX SSO-A: Smallsat Express mission. Upon reaching orbit, both payloads communicated nominal telemetry to the spacecraft computer. On the fully operational satellite, the AstroSDR is proceeding through its checkout procedure. Currently all steps have been successful. The AstroSDR will be used extensively this year to demonstrate its ability to capture emergency beacon signals.
